Since 1931, the Valdhuber family name has been rooted here in Svečina. The valley was once known for complaints and grumbling, which is how it got its name – Jamertal.
Today, with fresh enthusiasm, we look optimistically ahead, here where the Styrian terroir offers ideal conditions for wine production. We are so proud of the origin of our wines that the highest line of our wines carries the name of our home valley.
The bond with the vine and life with wine began in Graz, Austria, where Ema Huber was born in 1909. In 1913, as a young girl, she came to a small estate in Svečina, which, through a twist of fate, she later inherited. In 1931, with her marriage to Franc Valdhuber, the land also gained its master. And so, the Valdhuber family settled in Jamertal.
The smooth transition from the first to the second and from the second to the third generation was ensured by Alojz Valdhuber, who carried on the tradition and, at the end of the 1980s, entrusted the work to his sons Janez and Bogomir. With the first vintage in 1990, the brand of premium wines from Svečina — Vino Valdhuber — was introduced to the world.

Classic Fresh Wines. Our signature style, the foundation on which we have built from the very beginning. We produce these wines with minimal contact with oxygen, allowing them to fully express freshness, fruitiness, and pronounced varietal character. This is made possible by the cooler conditions during grape ripening, a result of our macro-location — the Maribor winegrowing district.
Jamertal Wines. A continuation of our wine story. These wines bear the name of our home valley. The selected vineyards from which the grapes for these wines come also grow in Jamertal. An upgrade of the classic line, where extended maturation and riper grapes bring greater fullness and concentration to the wines.
Valdhuber Sparkling Wines. In crafting our sparkling wines, we strictly follow the traditional method. The cooler conditions of our climate allow us to produce optimally ripe grapes for sparkling wine, with mature acidity, low pH values, and lower sugar levels.
Red Wines. With the right approach in the vineyard and phenolically ripe grapes, we can demonstrate that Štajerska is also a region for red wines. Pinot Noir and Blaufränkisch, with lower extraction during vinification, reveal their elegance in all its glory.
