Verus

Verus was founded by three friends and winegrowers — Rajko Žličar, Danilo Šnajder, and Božidar Grabovac. We combined our family vineyards, knowledge, and work, and in the spring of 2007, we established a winery in the premises of a former bakery. What unites us is our dedication to family tradition, as our parents and grandparents were already closely connected to vineyards and wine. Verus means true, genuine, real — also sincere, authentic, unpretentious, and honest. We are always committed to such an approach in all that we do, and we want our wines to reflect the same values.

Verus vineyards

The Verus vineyards are located in the east of Slovenia, in the Štajerska Slovenija winegrowing district, between the rivers Drava and Mura and the towns of Ormož and Ljutomer.

They are planted on steep slopes with a gradient of 30 to 40%, where the sun’s rays fall at the right angle, enhancing their strength.

In this diverse, dynamic, and exceptionally picturesque landscape, we cultivate 25 hectares of vineyards on carefully selected sites: Jeruzalem, Kog, Litmerk, Stanovščak, Pavlovski Vrh, Brebrovnik, Radomerščak, and Gomila.

All of our vineyards are farmed in an environmentally friendly manner, in line with the guidelines of Integrated Production, monitored and certified by an accredited institution. Harvesting is done by hand.

Mature, harmonious wines

We produce mature, harmonious wines with an intense bouquet and clearly expressed varietal character. Our wines are a true representation of their winegrowing region and vintage. To achieve this, we dedicate our energy, knowledge, and work every single day. We believe that the quality of wine depends solely on the quality of the grapes, which bring with them into the cellar a wealth of rich substances.
