STYRIA SLOVENIA
WINE-GROWING DISTRICT WITH EXCEPTIONAL VINEYARD SITES
Styria Slovenia is located in the northeast of the country and is the largest Slovenian wine-growing district.
The district is characterized by distinctly aromatic white wines and is also renowned for its exceptional late harvest and premium wines. The most important varieties are Welschriesling, Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Šipon (Furmint), Rhine Riesling, and Yellow Muscat. Red wines are less represented, but Pinot Noir and Blaufränkisch are increasingly establishing themselves.

The wine-growing district is divided into six sub-districts: Ljutomer–Ormož, Maribor, Radgona–Kapela, Haloze, Central Slovenske gorice, and Šmarje–Virštanj. In all sub-districts, there are renowned vineyard sites which, due to their terrain, altitude, and favorable soil and climatic conditions, rank among the best vineyard locations in the world.
Štajerska boasts a rich history, an attractive landscape, a long-standing tradition of wine production, excellent cuisine, and numerous cultural attractions. The colorfulness, vibrancy, and diversity of its wine country are well worth discovering.
