Sveta Ana

Sv. Ana v Slovenskih goricah Municipality

Town center with viewing platform

Sveta Ana in the Slovenske gorice is a picturesque settlement with a rich history and cultural heritage. At its heart lies the historic market core, dominated by the Church of St. Ana, built in 1705 on the site of an earlier wooden chapel from 1654. The church was renovated twice in the 19th century, and its main altar from 1794 is the work of the Maribor sculptor Jože Holzinger. The frescoes in the side chapel were painted in the first half of the 19th century by the Maribor Classicist painter Jožef Reitter.

The market core of Sveta Ana is known for its traditional architecture and compact building layout, reflecting the settlement’s historical development. Visitors can enjoy walks along well-maintained paths that offer insight into the area’s cultural heritage and natural beauty.

From the viewing platform—perched on a hill above the Ščavnica River valley—there are wonderful views of the surrounding landscape, allowing visitors to take in both the cultural and natural charms of this place.
