Chapel by the Lake

At the site originally intended for the construction of a church stands a triangular chapel, from which stone steps lead up to the hilltop church. Its paintings depict the Sveta Trojica, St. Izidor, and St. Lenart (the latter two being patrons of the peasantry). The reason for the triangular shape of the chapel lies in the symbolism of the St. Trojica as the triune God and in the legend of the three little lights. The exact date of construction is unknown, but from the chronicle it can be discerned that on St. Marko’s Day in 1904 it was already renovated and consecrated for the second time. The consecration was performed by Prince-Bishop Mihael Napotnik, who also blessed the Way of the Cross, erected at the same time (the first nine stations are located along the path from the chapel to the church, where the last three stations are found).
