In the shelter of Pohorje’s nature

In an idyllic location where the steep slopes of Framsko Pohorje gently level out into the plain—where silence and the tranquility of surrounding forests and meadows reign—Eko Idila – Baron’s Homestead has stood for more than 200 years at an altitude of 700 meters.

The farm covers 18 hectares, of which 8 hectares are carefully cultivated by our own hands—fields, meadows, an orchard, and herb and vegetable gardens—allowing us to maintain a largely self-sufficient farm. So that visitors can peacefully and fully enjoy the delights of our kitchen, we opened our doors to farm tourism in 1991. In 1999, we completed our transition to nature-friendly farming, and for many years we have held an organic farming certificate.

Our farm is home to a wide variety of animals—something children especially love: a pony, a Vietnamese pot-bellied pig, goats, cats, a dog, rabbits, chickens, ducks, geese, pigs, and cows with calves (Pohorje Beef).

Baron seasonal lunch “From our home organic garden to the table”

If you enjoy homemade food prepared with love, you’ve come to the right place! We prepare a variety of lunches (seasonal, historical, vegetarian, vegan, etc.). For lunch, you can choose from different seasonal menus (also vegetarian, vegan, raw, dietary…), prepared in a traditional way. In Baron’s kitchen, we use many indigenous, cultivated, and wild plants, making the menu truly diverse and interesting in every season. We are also Slovenia’s first provider of historical dishes under the Heriterra brand. These historical dishes are based on local archaeological heritage.

Organic experiences

An organic farm is a place where people live in harmony with plants and animals while producing delicious food and drink for us and our families. Our farm is open to all kindergartens, schools, and other visitors who want to learn how to farm in a nature-friendly way without harming the environment. We believe an organic farm is the best classroom, where visitors—through sight, hearing, touch, taste, smell, and participation—learn how food is produced in a way that is friendly to nature and animals. The programs and tours are not only for children; adults are welcome too.
