Church of St. Ana
The church stands on an elevated fortified site above the village, on the location of the old castle chapel, which was demolished in 1875 to make way for the present Neo-Romanesque church. It is a single-nave building with a transept forming side chapels in front of the presbytery. The bell tower stands in the eastern part of the nave. The façades are richly articulated with Neo-Romanesque architectural motifs, and several tombstones from the 16th and 17th centuries are embedded in them. The altars inside are historicist works from the late 19th century, recently fully restored, so that the interior of the church displays its full magnificence. In the old Turkish times, this was a defensive stronghold.
A particularly festive occasion is St. Anne’s Sunday (July 26), when a large number of people gather for the pilgrimage – both locals from the nearby villages of the Fram Pohorje area and other pilgrims.
