Gabled barn Čreti
The name “Čreti” comes from the Štajerska dialect and means a marshy lowland area, overgrown with grass and low shrubs. The hayrack is located on a meadow near the Dravinja River, right at the foot of Boč, and bears the year of construction 1886.
For most of its existence, it belonged to the Prešeren homestead in Zgornje Poljčane. In general, hayracks were once the pride of the farmer and a reflection of his wealth. The rich decoration, including the patterned framework of the ventilation slats, also demonstrates the pride and skill of the master carpenter.
Today, the Čreti gabled barn serves as a rest stop for hikers, and in the summer it becomes an idyllic venue for smaller events. Every year, the vocal ensemble Bleščice performs here, and workshops, educational programs, and other activities are organized for both locals and visitors.
