Haloze Spring

The Haloze Spring on Gorca is one of the many healing springs in Slovenia. It had once fallen into neglect, but was restored a few years ago. You can reach it by descending along a forest educational trail that teaches you about the trees you pass on the way. The starting point is accessible via a scenic ridge road that offers sweeping views of the Haloze hills and numerous terraced vineyards. The most beautiful vineyards can be seen right at the starting point of the spring trail. They twist along the shady slopes of the steep hills, leaving us with the difficult task of choosing the most beautiful curve. One can’t help but compare them to the terraced rice fields. Those in Bali are renowned as some of the most stunning in the world, but the ones in Haloze are in no way inferior in beauty. With one important difference for the world: in Bali, the terraces produce rice, while here in Haloze, they yield fine wine.
