Marija's church

The Church of the Marijino Vnebovzetje is the parish church of the Parish of Jarenina and stands in the center of the settlement of Jareninski Dol in the Municipality of Pesnica. Originally Romanesque, the Church of the Assumption of Mary today has a predominantly late Gothic appearance and an interesting bell tower with a stone roof. In the 17th century, the Chapel of St. Blaž was added, and in the 18th century, the Chapel of the Cross. The furnishings are Baroque: the pulpit from 1768 is the work of J. Holzinger, the side altars from 1755 are by J. Straub, and the Cross altar, dating from around 1740, is by F. J. Straub. Near the church, which is also adorned with paintings by J. Broll, stands the old ossuary of St. Michael from the 12th century.
