Pristava Lake

Among the meadows of the Pesnica Valley, south of the settlement of Močna, the Pesnica River is dammed into the artificial reservoir lake Pristava. Another name for it is Šiker Pond, as it lies near the famous Šiker Inn. The original pond, which for centuries belonged to the Counts of Herberstein (who raised fish there), was expanded into a reservoir of the Pesnica River decades ago by placing a dam on its course. The lake has a depth of 3 meters, is 750 meters long and 500 meters wide, and covers an area of about 30 hectares. A well-maintained walking path encircles the lake, with benches for resting and enjoying the peaceful nature. A swing for children is also located by the lake. The lake is popular with fishermen, as one of the largest catfish in Slovenia was caught here. Migratory birds also overwinter in the lake’s surroundings. The maximum depth of the lake is 3 meters.
