Church of St. Marija in Dobrovce
Along the road from Miklavž toward Marjeta na Dravskem polju lies the settlement of Dobrovce. In Dobrovce, by the road toward Skoke, stands the chapel of Marija – Queen of Peace. It is a restored building consisting of a square bell tower, a rectangular nave with a sacristy on the northern side, and a three-sided sanctuary. It was built between 1924 and 1934. The open belfry with three arches is supported by four pillars reminiscent of Baroque style, while in the bell stage hang two bronze bells dating from 1924 and 1939. In the church, covered by a trapezoidal ceiling, the altar stands out. Its Neo-Renaissance structure, originating from the abandoned castle chapel at Hompoš, preserves the church’s main treasure: a Baroque statue of Marija – Queen of Peace with the Child, bending in blessing toward the faithful, dating from the first half of the 18th century.
