Maribor Municipality
Mariborsko Pohorje
Mariborsko Pohorje rises above the southern part of Maribor and is an attractive tourist, sports and recreation hub in both the winter and summer seasons. On and below Pohorje you’ll find a varied selection of mountain huts, cafés and hotels, many offering wellness relaxation.
Bike Park Pohorje features trails of different lengths and difficulty levels for bold mountain-bike descents. The blue Flow Line is also suitable for less experienced riders. Experienced and professional riders can test themselves on the red Red Line and the black World Cup trail. Next to the lower gondola station there is also an easier circular track – the pump track.
Together with Areh, Maribor Pohorje is considered the largest winter resort in Slovenia and is especially known as a popular family ski area. It offers 42 km of ski slopes. On Ruško Pohorje (Areh) there are about 6 km of cross-country skiing trails. The cable car (gondola) is accessible by city bus. Night skiing is available, and ski equipment rental is also possible. Visitors can also enjoy cross-country skiing, sledging, rides on traditional pležuh sleds, and other winter fun.
And a few more cycling tips: from the upper station of the Pohorje cable car runs the Pohorje Cycling Traverse; the Bellevue cycling route is the shortest circular cycling route connecting Areh and Bellevue; and the Slovenian mountain-bike touring route also crosses Maribor Pohorje.
