Makole Municipality
Kavkler Cellar
On the slopes of Makole, more precisely at Jelovec pri Makolah 58, stands the more than 200-year-old Kavkler Cellar. The structure is primarily wooden, with a magnificent vaulted cellar beneath it, which has now been restored. Due to its exceptional acoustics and its natural and romantic ambience, concerts, cultural events, civil weddings, exhibitions, and more are held here by candlelight. By its architecture, the Kavkler Cellar is an outstanding cultural monument in the Municipality of Makole and in the wider Slovenian area.
Every year, a concert is held in the Kavkler Cellar in honor of Saint Urban, the patron saint of winegrowers, wine, vineyard workers, and coopers. He helps against drunkenness, protects from frost, storms, and lightning.
Along with tastings of local dried meat products and fresh bread from the bread oven, visitors are offered a degustation of premium Muscat Ottonel wine.
