Naraplje Village Mill
According to the testimony of the villagers, the village mill was built around 1940 and greatly eased the work of the locals, since until then they had to grind grain by hand. In the 1970s, a flood damaged the mill to such an extent that it was no longer repaired. Over time, individual parts of the mill’s interior equipment received several additions, some of which are believed to date back even to the 1920s. At first, the mill was powered by water, then gradually adapted so that the millstones could be turned by draft animals; later they acquired a diesel engine, then electricity… This is why the mill “moved” around the village. And when it seemed that it would be discarded due to deterioration, the villagers of Naraplje, under the auspices of the Naraplje Tourist Association, decided to restore the mill—just as it was originally built and equipped. Today it sings again to the sound of flowing water.
