Statue of St. Miklavž

By the road in the Upper Square stands the monument of St. Miklavž, the patron saint of raftsmen. It recalls the seat of the raftsmen’s guild in the town. Offerings were brought to the monument in gratitude for a safe return from journeys along the Drava River. The stone Baroque statue is the work of Jožef Straub, created in 1754. Between the two wars, the statue still stood closer to the Jeger House. Due to road reconstruction, it was moved to its present location.
