Beekeeping House
The surroundings of Lovrenc, with their forested slopes, are ideal for beekeeping, which is why the locals have been dedicated to working with bees for centuries. In the past, there was hardly a farm without at least a few beehives. Local beekeepers are proud of the Beekeeping Association Lovrenc na Pohorju, which has been active since 1921.
On the 75th anniversary of the association, in 1996, the Beekeeping House was built. During the Jezernik Days event, visitors can learn about the life of bees and beekeeping practices, as well as taste bee products. Next to the Beekeeping House run both a beekeeping and a forestry educational trail. The beekeeping trail presents the historical development of hive systems (the Kranjič, Kirar hive, AŽ hive, LR hive), where through glass panels one can also view the interior of the hives. The forestry educational trail presents native plant species of Pohorje and nectar-bearing plants.
