Juršinci Municipality
Museum of the Queens’ Heritage with an Exhibition Cave in Juršinci
After Slovenia’s independence, within the Slovenian Christian Democrats party, a special committee was established with the aim of enriching the village with values and activities that would help revive it. The committee operated under the leadership of Marta Toplak, Marija Tašner, and Jože Bezjak. The village is rooted in the characteristics of the parish. The patron saint of Juršinci is St. Lawrence, whose symbol is the gridiron on which he was martyred. Another major feature of the village is vine grafting and viticulture. These symbols were drawn and presented to the heraldic authority of the Republic of Slovenia, and thus the municipal coat of arms of Juršinci was created. In connection with this presentation, a large rural-cultural-tourism event was organized under the title Thanksgiving of Autumn with the Queens.
After the decline of the SKD party, once again under the leadership of Marta Toplak and ten co-founders, an association for preserving and developing heritage was established. The event Thanksgiving of Autumn with the Autumn Queen continued within the KRONA project, and the first folklore dance of the queens was created. The association designed its own three seals, which depict the activities and characteristics of the village — life, work, and culture — with the symbol of the queens.
The first ethnographic museum was created, with collections of material heritage (tools, clothing, objects of the queens, etc.). In 2009, the museum collection was transferred to parish premises. A second museum was completed, dedicated to the ethnographic, artistic, and material heritage of the queens. From 1993 to 2012, 20 Autumn Queens were presented, namely: the Queen of Autumn, the Queen of Bread, the Queen of Wine, the Queen of Fruit, the Queen of Milk and Cheese, the Queen of Poultry, the Queen of Agriculture, the Queen of Flowers, the Queen of Homemakers, the Queen of Vine Grafting, the Queen of Music, the Queen of Heart Culture, the Queen of Horse Breeding, the Queen of Tourism, the Queen of Hunting, the Queen of Customs, the Queen of Honey, the Queen of Water, the Queen of the Castle, and the Queen of Slovenske gorice.
