TRNOVSKA VAS MUNICIPALITY
Gray Heron Reserve
A remarkable natural attraction is the Grey Heron Forest Reserve in the village of Biš, which hosts 131 nests — among them two nests of the Great White Egret and several nests of common buzzards, considered breeding sites of an endangered species, and among the rarest in Slovenia. The Municipality of Trnovska vas takes great pride in this long-legged, long-beaked beauty – the Grey Heron, which has established the largest and oldest colony in Slovenia, located in Jezera, as the area is known by the locals, in Biš.
