GORNJA RADGONA MUNICIPALITY
Museum Špital
Housed in a building that has preserved its original name for centuries, the Radgona Museum offers visitors a rich, multi-layered collection entitled Radgona Bridges. Complemented by multimedia presentations and an open storage area, the exhibition reveals the geological features, archaeological curiosities, as well as the ethnological and artistic heritage of the town by the Mura River. The building itself, which has undergone numerous architectural and functional changes, today represents a rare example of bourgeois architecture in Slovenia, with a unique floor plan and roof structure. The permanent exhibition Radgona Bridges presents the story of bridges – from the earliest times to the present day.

This is not merely about a bridge as an architectural structure connecting the two riverbanks, but about a much broader symbolic meaning. These are the bridges of family and political history in the hinterland of a flourishing medieval town on the island of the Mura River; bridges between townspeople and rural inhabitants; bridges between vineyard owners and tenant winemakers; and, not least, bridges between two ethnic and linguistic communities that have lived in this area since its earliest settlement.
We warmly invite you to explore our history!
