6. BOLFENKOV POHOD: od Sv.Bolfenka do Sv.Bolfenka

Mariborsko PohorjeThe organisers – the Municipality of Trnovska vas, RRA Podravje – Maribor and the Kenguru Sports Association – warmly invite you to join us for the longest organised hike in Štajerska.
Join us on a route that will take us along forest trails, across meadows and to scenic viewpoints, where we will admire the natural beauty of the Slovenske gorice hills, the Drava River, Maribor and Pohorje, while experiencing the remarkable diversity of Štajerska, the 3rd Best European Destination 2026.
The hike is a perfect opportunity to enjoy nature, meet new people and create lasting memories.

📍 Starting point: Trnovska vas Primary School or St Bolfenk's Church in Trnovska vas

Estimated itinerary
6:55–7:30: Gathering at Trnovska vas Primary School; fruit, tea, coffee and an aperitif
7:30–7:45: Welcome addresses, group photo and start of the hike
8:55–9:10: Stop at the Maister Tower and Stupič Villa in Zavrh; visit and photo opportunity
10:55–11:15: Stop in Zimica; opportunity for a snack from your backpack
12:20–12:30: Stop at the viewpoint in Trčova
13:10–13:50: Stop at St Peter's Church in Malečnik; visit to the church and catacombs, with an opportunity for a snack from your backpack
15:40–15:55: Stop at Betnava Manor
18:10–18:50: Finish at St Bolfenk's Church on Pohorje; accompanying programme, refreshments, presentation of certificates and group photo
The schedule is approximate and may be adjusted depending on the pace of the hike.
Transport after the hike
An organised bus transfer from Maribor Pohorje back to Trnovska vas is available upon request. The price is EUR 10.
Participants can also return to the valley by the Pohorje cable car:
EUR 6 for residents of the Municipality of Maribor,
EUR 10 for other visitors.
Promotional T-shirt
Until 22 September 2026, participants can order a special-edition Destination Štajerska T-shirt featuring the Bolfenk's hike design. The price of the T-shirt is EUR 15.
At the finish, participants can look forward to an accompanying programme, complimentary refreshments and a relaxed get-together. Everyone who completes the route will also receive a certificate.
The Bolfenk's hike is a wonderful opportunity to test your endurance, enjoy the colours of autumn, discover the region's cultural and natural heritage, and spend time with fellow hiking and nature enthusiasts.
Join us on this varied and scenic route connecting the two churches of St Bolfenk – from Trnovska vas all the way to Maribor Pohorje.
