Church of St. Urban
The Church of St. Urban stands on the first ridge of fertile hills in the village of Destrnik. As early as 1518, it is mentioned as a parish church, though it originally served as a filial church of St. George’s Parish in Ptuj. The Gothic structure is adorned with post-Baroque and Neo-Gothic saintly figures, as well as sculptures made using figural ceramics. In the second half of the 18th century, the church was furnished with three new altars: the high altar dedicated to St. Urban, the Marian altar in the northern side chapel, and the Crucifixion altar in the southern side chapel. The figures in these altars are the work of Maribor sculptor J. Holzinger. The church is further enriched by post-Baroque and Neo-Gothic saintly figures, as well as ceramic statues of Saint Ciril and Saint Metod, dating from 1900.
