ORMOŽ MUNICIPALITY
Ormož Basins Nature Reserve
The Ormož Basins are a wetland area covering 55 hectares. They are located within the river system of the Drava River. Many endangered bird species and also water buffalo live there. The Ormož Lagoons can be visited only on foot or by bicycle.

The Ormož Basins consist of six former wastewater basins of the Ormož Sugar Factory. Today, the area is a nature reserve of great national and international importance due to the large number of conservation-significant bird species that appear here during migration and breeding periods. The otter is also regularly present. Water buffalo make a major contribution to maintaining low vegetation in the shallower basins. Their grazing encourages the lush growth of vegetation.
