Maribor Puppet Theatre

The Maribor Puppet Theatre, founded in 1973, stands on the strong foundations of puppetry that reach back to the interwar period. Its rich history is marked by the transformation from an amateur theatre into a professional institution, whose outstanding performances have captured the hearts of both domestic and international audiences.

A turning point came in 2010, when the theatre moved into the renovated premises of the former Minorite Monastery on Lent. This modern home enabled a new flourishing of creativity and the expansion of its program.

Today, the Maribor Puppet Theatre is not only a stage for puppet performances, but also a vibrant cultural center that, through cooperation with various institutions and artists, co-creates unique artistic experiences.
