The Municipality of Lenart, located in the heart of the Slovenske Gorice (Slovenian Hills), attracts visitors with its diverse landscape ranging from hilly to lowland terrain. It is appealing to excursionists drawn by natural beauty, as well as numerous natural, historical, and cultural landmarks, sporting and cultural events, and well-preserved folk traditions. Excursion tourism involves not only local residents but also visitors from other parts of Slovenia and Austria.
Thanks to favorable living conditions, the municipal territory has been inhabited since the Mesolithic period, particularly during Roman times. The Slovenske Gorice are densely populated, with small clustered villages that have mostly developed around churches, which typically stand on the ridge tops. The varied appearance of the landscape is shaped not only by the terrain but also by the different cultivated crops: forested areas cover the shady slopes, vineyards thrive on the sunny ones, valleys are filled with pastures and meadows, and field crops and orchards lie on the outskirts. The municipality consists of two local communities: Lenart and Voličina.
