Rojstna hiša dr. Štefke Cobelj v Zagorcih
Štefka Cobelj was an art historian and ethnologist, born in 1923 in Zagorci. Already during her studies, she became a world traveler and spoke six languages. Her broad knowledge and familiarity with foreign cultures enabled her to engage in international cultural and scientific cooperation, as well as a rich exhibition and publishing activity. After returning to Slovenia in 1976, she also began collaborating with amateur visual artists; she served as a mentor at art colonies in Majšperk, and later at Gorca and Borl. In 1988, she published the book Ljubiteljski likovniki Ptuja (Amateur Artists of Ptuj), one of the first publications of its kind in Slovenia at the time. In 1989, for her work in culture, she received the prestigious “Velika oljenka” award of the Cultural Community of the Municipality of Ptuj. In 1991, her birthplace at Zagorci 71 was opened as a memorial site, with a commemorative plaque unveiled, bearing an inscription that Štefka Cobelj herself had specified in her will. She also allocated part of her estate for its installation.
