Church of St. Barbara in Korena

Korena is a settlement in the valley of the Korena Stream, with its center on the ridge at 392 meters above sea level, where the Church of St. Barbara, visible from afar, stands amidst a beautifully landscaped park.

The Parish Church of St. Barbara was built in 1789 on the site of an earlier church dating back to 1560. In 1867 it was re-vaulted and its furnishings were restored. At the crossroads near the church stands a triangular plague monument, commemorating the plague years of 1710 and 1712. Close to the church, at the Ferk Manor, there is a stone statue of St. Richard from 1856.
