Rački ribniki – Požeg Landscape Park
Rački ribniki – Požeg Landscape Park lies on the edge of the Drava Plain and covers 484 hectares. It consists mainly of lowland mixed forest, meadows with hedges, and standing waters (ponds and a reservoir). The park is an extremely important complex in the lowland part of Slovenia, as it provides a habitat for rare and endangered plant and animal species – not only on a regional and national level, but also more broadly. More than 210 bird species, 50 species of dragonflies, and 12 species of amphibians have been recorded here, to name only the most noticeable and vocal inhabitants. In recent years, the park has become increasingly attractive to visitors, who can find unspoiled nature here, learn about plants and animals, and enjoy peace and relaxation. Due to its lowland location and easy accessibility, the park is suitable for visitors of all age groups. The trails through the park are marked and equipped with signs highlighting important animal and plant species, while information boards are located at the entrance. More details about the park can be found in the guide published by DPPVN – Društvo za proučevanje ptic in varstvo narave (Society for the Study of Birds and Nature Conservation).
