Središče Landscape Park
The Landscape Park, stretching between Ormož and Središče ob Dravi, is rich in diverse habitat types and extraordinarily biodiverse. Experts and researchers have recorded 105 species of breeding birds, 15 species of amphibians, 9 species of reptiles, and numerous mammals, the most important of which are the hamster and the otter (both endangered species in Europe). The colorful display of more than 30 species of dragonflies and hundreds of species of butterflies, fluttering among the even more colorful blossoms of riverside plants, gives the park outstanding aesthetic value. So far, 43 species of fish have been recorded in the Drava River, while its tributaries are still home to the brook crayfish and the brook lamprey. In the oxbow lakes, the great ramshorn snail and the planorbid snail are common, and several species of mussels can also be found. The Drava, with its tributaries and riverbanks, offers opportunities for walking, fishing, horseback riding, and cycling. This unspoiled world is full of river branches and islands, numerous oxbow lakes, gravel banks, and reed beds. The river’s greatest treasure is its free flow and playfulness, along with the constant river dynamics that continuously reshape its course.
